Epcot, short for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,” opened its doors on October 1, 1982. Walt Disney himself dreamt of a place where people could interact with cutting-edge technology, experience different cultures, and envision a better future. Though Walt passed away before he could see this dream come to life, his vision lived on through Epcot. The park is divided into two main areas: Future World and World Showcase, each offering a unique blend of entertainment and education.
Spaceship Earth: Icon of Epcot
Spaceship Earth is the iconic centerpiece and an attraction at Epcot, one of the four theme parks in Walt Disney World Resort located in Orlando, Florida. The term “Spaceship Earth” refers to the massive geodesic sphere that dominates the park’s entrance area. Its exterior lighting and appearance change during special events and at night, making it a mesmerizing spectacle.
Inside Spaceship Earth, there is a popular dark ride attraction that takes visitors on a journey through the history of communication and technology. The ride is designed to educate and entertain visitors by exploring the evolution of human communication, from prehistoric cave paintings to the invention of the printing press, and eventually into the digital age.
The ride features audio-animatronic figures and scenes that depict various historical periods and technological advancements. It includes the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, and the development of the internet and digital communication.
Personalized Proposal Ring Box
I was asked by anonymous person to create him Disney Epcot Ball engagement ring box. I searched online and did not see any ring box, so I decided to go for it. When researching this subject I found STL on Cults3d and bought the file on behalf of my customer. I printed it with my resin based 3d Printer. My customer wanted to paint it in light show colors of. It made me even more excited, than simple metallic color.
I used my airbrush to paint the base colors using Vallejo Acrylics : Magenta 70.945, Sand Yellow 70.916, Royal Blue 70.809 and Bright Orange 70.851. I later used Deep Sky Blue 70.844, Light Orange 70.911, Deep Yellow 70.915 and Pink 958 to differentiate some panels randomly. I experimented with washes to emphasize shadows in the lines. At the end I added dots of lights using toothpick with magenta and white dot on top.
I quickly modeled the simple base and 3d printed it with black PLA. I sanded it smooth and patched all lines and tiny holes with UV resin. I started using this smoothing technique with my FDM prints. It works great and there is less waiting for putty to dry.
The model was delivered safely and now waiting for the right moment to pop the question. I will inform you if proposal was a success as soon as I get the news.
